Minutes of the Ordinance Subcommittee of the Newtown Legislative Council
Meeting held on Wednesday, September 16, 2009, at 7:00 p.m.
Present: Francis G. Pennarola, Chairman; Patricia Lodra; Jan Brooks; Joseph Hemingway; John Aureilia; and Gary Davis. Also present was Ted Kreinik of the Energy Task Force.
1. Discussion of proposed Sustainable Energy Commission Ordinance.
The Committee and Mr. Kreinik discussed a draft of the proposed Sustainable Energy Commission Ordinance, changes to the draft that had been circulated, and were agreed to by consensus. The Chairman indicated that he would publish the ordinance for a public hearing on October 7, 2009.
2. Discussion and possible action on the proposed Retiree Medical Trust Ordinance.
The Committee agreed to move this to a public hearing on October 7, 2009.
3. Discussion of the proposed Sex Offender Ordinance.
The ordinance, as proposed by the Police Commission and forwarded to the Council by Chief Kehoe, had previously been distributed to Committee members, along with other materials. There was a general discussion and the Chairman agreed to invite Chief Kehoe to an upcoming Ordinance Committee Meeting, probably before the October 21 Council Meeting.
No votes were taken.
There being no other business before the Committee, the meeting was adjourned at 7:30.
